Portraits

I love people watching. I think most people do.

But sometimes what I see isn't pretty. People are hurting, amidst their living, and we often turn a blind eye. I don't want to anymore. When I listen to people's stories, I can't help but pick up a paintbrush and try to show others what they are going through. Brushes give me a sense of control over something that seems uncontrollable. There is pain in my paintings, but there is also hope. Just as the oil paint I use never dries and allows me the capability to change what I see necessary, I believe we can transform our pain into something else.
